Minister says Russia’s GDP may grow by over 4.2% in 2021

MOSCOW, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) may grow by more than 4.2% forecasted by the Economic Development Ministry, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said at a meeting with the representatives of the Association of European Businesses on Monday.

“Our economy is developing quite well. The October statistics came out quite strong, on the whole, we are talking about the fact that in 10 months we have a GDP growth rate of 4.6%. … This allows us to expect (Russia’s GDP to grow) even slightly better than our estimates,” Reshetnikov said.

The Economic Development Ministry forecast envisages a 4.2% growth of the Russian economy in 2021 and an increase of 3% in 2022.

Earlier, the ministry estimated Russia’s GDP growth at 4.9% in annual terms in October, at 4.6% in January–October.
